The language sets the rhythm, every word like a targeted hit on the snare, the applause bubbles like a tormented double bass and is released in response to the call - it's the Club Poetry Slam at Birdland! In the hotbed of Hamburg's jazz scene, spoken word and underground come together in their purest form, merging in the unique charm of Birdland to create a chimera of grandeur - this is where hungry newcomers and experienced slammers meet, compete in the contest of words and dance on the keyboard of word genres, between heated punchlines and punchlines, quiet lyrical tones build up in a crescendo and rise ever higher until the final coda. Slam the way it should be, the way it all began back in Chicago: with a few crazy ideas, a cool drink and a microphone - that's all it takes for the smoothest literary event in all of Hamburg.
