Pure vibration and processed sound - in the improvisation dúo , two levels of sound unite in dialog to create a meditative deep listening experience.

Alicia Champlin plays the Bow Chime, an instrument made of percussion cymbals and resonating surfaces that is stimulated with a bow. The Bow Chime's diverse acoustic vocabulary is recorded by a room microphone as well as feedback from the speakers, room resonances and background sounds, including the noises and utterances of the audience.

Niklas Reppel layers this sound material live with code-based manipulations and distributes it throughout the room via a multi-channel setup.
Room atmosphere and electro-acoustic sounds amplify and blend with the deep resonances of the Bow Chime, creating an unpredictable and fascinating feedback loop between performer, room and audience.

dúo is inspired by the idea of the meditative 'sound bath' and practices of deep listening. Performances that incorporate spatial resonance and feedback loops, as in the work of composer and sound artist Alvin Lucier, have also influenced the work of the artist duo from Barcelona.

COLLAB
The COLLAB concert series brings together international and local artists to explore the creative potential of collaborative performance. The focus is on improvisation, experimentation and the linking of live coding with other forms of artistic expression.

Live coding is performative programming - a performing art in which artists write code in real time to create music or visual art. This technique makes it possible to make creative technical processes visible to the audience through projections and to involve them directly in the creation of the artwork.
Live coding is an innovative form of expression that questions the relationship between man and machine as well as art and audience in a new way.
