Fairytale puppet show based on Hans Christian Andersen

The ugly duckling hatches out of the egg in a duck yard amongst all the funny golden ducklings. However, it behaves very differently from what is expected of it. It is bigger, darker and shaggier than the other ducklings and asks too many questions. It is pushed away by its siblings and treated with nasty words. The neighboring duck fears that this duckling might eat too much food and wishes the tomcat would come and get it. Nobody wants the ugly duckling around.
So it flutters over the fence and tries its luck in the wide world. The search for friends and a place where it can stay proves difficult. It is constantly rejected or told how it should behave. It is unable to keep up in a competition to prove who is the noblest in society. In winter, the ugly duckling almost freezes to death in the icy lake. But when spring arrives, the world suddenly appears to him in a completely different light and he is overjoyed to be who he really is.
