Das Meinhard Siegel Trio+

The band led by Gelsenkirchen pianist Meinhard Siegel has been performing on a wide variety of stages for more than 24 years. The core of the group has been playing together for over 40 years. This is probably the reason for the band's homogeneous, almost weightless sound. For many years, Meinhard Siegel spent several months of the year living in Värmland, Sweden. His early compositions are definitely influenced by this. Sometimes cheerful and upbeat, sometimes melancholy and dreamy, sometimes songlike and playful - just typically Scandinavian. It is no coincidence that the band's first CD is called "UNDER VÄRMLAND'S SKY".

Siegel has been living and working exclusively in the city again since 2020. It doesn't really matter whether the city is called Gelsenkirchen, Essen or Lisbon. As a self-confessed urban wanderer, he roams the suburbs, industrial wastelands and backyards and incorporates his impressions into his compositions. In 2022, the four musicians recorded their second CD "BACK IN TOWN". And this time, too, the title is to be understood programmatically. The band released their third CD in the summer of 2024. "WHAT A BEAUTIFUL DAY" stands for the serenity and relaxation with which the four older gentlemen present their live program. The band has played more than 380 concerts in Germany and Sweden so far. For about 2 years, the band has been playing with different bassists due to illness, but also likes to play with other guest musicians.
