The Kulturhaus Schwanen presents the exhibition "Das Nest" by the young artist Leonie Lass from March 14 to April 11, 2025. The vernissage will take place on Friday, March 14 at 7 pm in the Schwanen Saal.
In her exhibition, Leonie Lass turns her attention to constructed and constituted space. Her works oscillate between presence and absence, the visible and the hidden, and open up new perspectives on changing conditions. Lass is interested in the threshold between the public and the private.
"The nest - we realize it immediately - is extremely easy to destroy, and yet it triggers in us a reverie of security." Bachelard, Gaston: Poetics of space,
Inspired by Gaston Bachelard's "Poetics of Space", the nest becomes a hiding place for Lass, who is also confronted with the fragility of the familiar. The home is understood not only as a physical space, but also as a state that stores, shapes and transforms memories, experiences and reveries.
Leonie Lass, born in Esslingen am Neckar, studied sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart. She was a guest student at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf and spent a semester abroad at the Iceland University of the Arts in Reykjavik. Her works have already been shown in renowned institutions such as the Staatsgalerie Stuttgart and the Kunstmuseum Stuttgart.
