Hamburg, end of the 1940s. Three women want to fulfill a dream: A concert in front of the Queen in the garden of Buckingham Palace. But to do so, they have to win a singing competition. The three of them meet at an audition: Rosa, a substitute German teacher, Käthe, a dressmaker with opera training, and Hilde, a milker and yodeler who is a pure natural. A ladies' band is to be formed, or to be more precise: a ladies' band, as Captain John McGintley, the organizer of the "Anglo-German Swing Festival", emphasizes. A great challenge - and not just for the three very different "German Frolleins".
