The poetry slam highlight of the year
German-language authors from the literary canon meet up-and-coming stage writers - and in a fierce competition to boot! The Dead or Alive Poetry Slam at the Grenzlandtheater makes it possible.
Be there on October 24, 2024 when world-famous and long-dead writers are brought back to life for the first time by the Grenzland ensemble and compete with the crème de la crème of the German-speaking poetry slam scene.
But what is poetry slam anyway? The format, which was declared a UNESCO cultural heritage site in 2016, stands for a range of uproariously funny stories, fast-paced poetry, political wit and emotional stories. The result is a mixture of cabaret, comedy and the finest poetry.
But that's not all: at the Poetry Slam, the show becomes a competition! The performers each have seven minutes to convince you - the audience - of their texts. You vote - dead poets or living slammers, dead or alive - who will leave the theater stage as the winner?
