Deltabeben Regionale 2024

Since its inception, the DELTABEBEN regional exhibition has taken stock of the regional contemporary art scene in the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region every two years, alternating between Mannheim and Ludwigshafen. In 2024, the established exhibition project will take place in Ludwigshafen again for the seventh time: In this year's edition, the Wilhelm-Hack-Museum and the Kunstverein Ludwigshafen are presenting 21 outstanding artists* of different age groups who have their center of work and life in the extended Rhine-Neckar region. The selection of participating artists was made by a total of 11 nominators - curators, art critics or academy professors from the region as well as representatives of the organizing exhibition venues. There was no age limit for the nominations, but the artists should not have participated more than twice in previous editions of the DeltabebenRegionale . The Deltabeben exhibitions of recent years and their accompanying catalogs have been given the character of an ongoing survey of the art scene in the Rhine-Neckar region, particularly due to the restriction on possible participation.

This new edition of "Deltabeben" paints an interesting and varied picture of the art scene in the extended region with artistic positions from different generations and media. The stylistic diversity and broad spectrum of artistic techniques are what make this overview exhibition so appealing: Painting, drawing, photography and video are represented as well as sculpture, installation and performance. Interestingly, they all address social, political, historical or sociological issues in different ways. Using artistic forms of expression, they shed light on the past and present, sometimes prompting reflection on how to shape the future.
