"The Billabong King" tells the entertaining and captivating story of an unusual crocodile. Ben, the mighty ruler of the Billabong, has a problem: he is afraid of the dentist! When the arrogant dentist Kaukasius abuses his power and forges sinister plans, an exciting adventure begins. Ben is supported by a courageous young crocodile guardian bird called Ben, whose job it is to free the crocodiles' teeth from parasites and serve as a loyal helper and protector.

Little Ben shows great courage and ingenuity in this story. Together, the two of them confront the intrigues of Kaukasius and have to face numerous dangers. In the process, they realize that true power should not lie with one individual.

The play, which was nominated for the German Youth Literature Prize in 2023, is now being adapted by us for the stage for the first time. It takes up central themes such as democracy, cohesion and community in an exciting way. In a dramatic turning point, the animals of the Billabong find themselves in a conflict that calls their entire way of life into question. Will Ben be willing to shed his crown and make room for new ideas and democratic leadership?

Full of tension, betrayal and bravery, this play shows that true greatness often lies in letting go. A meaningful and timely message that affects us all.
