The Mysterious Stranger is a fascinating story full of abysses, a story about the moral arrogance of man, who believes himself to be the crown of creation and therefore commits the worst atrocities. A thought-provoking play about morality and the meaning of life, a plea for life and against the hope of an afterlife. Martina van Boxen stages this dark, fairytale-like story by Mark Twain, which was only published after his death.

It is the year 1590 in the sleepy village of "Eselsdorf", where Theodor, Nikolaus and Seppi live. One day, a stranger turns up and befriends the youngsters. He reveals himself to be an angel. His name? Satan!
