DER ZAUBER VON OZ

Doro lives with her father in apartment block 13b on the outskirts of the big city. At night, she swaps the gray of her surroundings and the noise of the nearby highway for the colorful world of the new mobile game SMARAGDCITY. Outside, lightning begins to flash, a storm rolls in and the empty basket of a hot air balloon hits Doro's window. Magically attracted by a green light, she climbs in, is carried away by the wind and lands straight in the land of Oz. She can only get back home with the help of the wizard. To do this, Doro has to set off and win six emeralds. Not so easy, because Oz may be colorful, but it's not without its dangers Along the way, she meets the absent-minded straw man, the tin woman with heartache and rust damage and the terribly scary lion. Together they embark on an adventure. True to the motto: Everything for Oz - Oz for everyone!

Sergej Gößner has resolutely and with great wit adapted the classic American children's book The Wizard of Oz from 1939 and brought it into the present day with relish. Oz is a dazzling but also deceptive world in which many things are different than expected. Clichés are quickly debunked and prejudices and manipulations are uncovered. It becomes clear that supposed faults and weaknesses are often irrelevant or even false on closer inspection. Stereotypes and simple categorizations such as 'stupid' or 'heartless' never describe what really makes us who we are. And there may even be a real heart beating in unexpected places.
