Lecture: Historical items from the region
Designer Peter Beyer, luminaires in the world with exhibition opening
Speaker: Bernd Mühling
He is hardly known in Markkleeberg. But the luminaires he developed - alone or as part of a collective - are known to experts all over the world. A patent application granted in the mid-1970s for a tremendously variable lighting system, such as that used in the Palace of the Republic, caused a sensation. This or similar systems can be found all over the world, such as on cruise ships in the USA, congress and government buildings and international hotels. Peter Beyer from Markkleeberg, chief designer at Kombinat Leuchtenbau Leipzig and later at Kombinat NARVA Berlin, tried his hand in many fields. He drew and painted, held several lectureships at universities and was not above accepting small commissions from time to time, including one for Forsthaus Raschwitz decades ago.
