DEXTER feat. URBAN BEATS COLLECTIVE (Hip-Hop und Freestyle-Session mit Liveband)

The Urban Beats Collective around the two Stuttgart musicians Martin Sörös and Julian Feuchter invites none other than the Stuttgart rapper and producer Dexter to Bix this evening.

You can look forward to a mixture of jazz, rap, improvisation and experimental refined by a careful selection of tracks from Dexter's creative forge.

Stuttgart's freestyle rap legend Toba Borke will be joining us as host and MC for this unique show.

They all started small. But very few of them have made it this big - the art. But Dexter has: over the last 13 years, the Stuttgart-based producer has been involved in iconic albums by Deichkind, Cro and Casper, he has been responsible for three successful Fatoni albums and, together with Max Herre, recently put together a retrospective of the GDR label AMIGA ("hallo 22"). With three instrumental albums of his own and later with the producer supergroup Betty Ford Boys, he led the way for the new self-confidence of an entire generation of local hip-hop beatmakers - fewer service providers, more attention.

The fact that Dexter himself had once started out as a rapper was often forgotten. Only "Haare nice, Socken fly" (2017) was his first rap solo album, and with "Yung Boomer" in 2020 he got to the heart of how his very own grown-man rap works in the field of tension between trap and jazz. The fact that he put old-school legend Lakmann on an album with Lugatti & 9ine is just one of many proofs of Dexter's exceptional position in the scene.

His love of jazz and experimental is also reflected in his instrumental albums "Jazz Files" (2010) from the genre-defining series "Hi-Hat Club" (Melting Pot Music) and his brand new release "BABY STEPS (BEATS 2010-2013)" from 2023.

For the first time, Dexter will conjure up this symbiosis of jazz, rap, hip-hop and experimental live on stage at the Bix Jazzclub with the URBAN BEATS COLLECTIVE.
