DFD Sustain! Intercultural Pop-Up

Following the successful launch last summer, the Stadtmuseum Düsseldorf is presenting the second edition of the Intercultural Pop-Up - this time as a collaboration between the Fashion Aware Club of the Igedo Exhibition and a Ukrainian designer collective. On January 25 and 26, exciting workshops on sustainable fashion will take place free of charge. Learn creative techniques such as upcycling, repairing or dyeing with natural dyes and get active yourself. On Sunday, the FASHION AWARE CLUB The store. also moves from the Sustain! Pop-Up to the Stadtmuseum for a concentrated load of creativity.

Born in Ukraine: Immerse yourself in the fascinating world of aesthetics and creativity! Fashion and art come together to create an unforgettable atmosphere. In addition to a pop-up, performances, fashion shows and workshops will take place on Saturday, January 25 from 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. and Sunday, January 26 from 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. in the city museum, showcasing the diversity of fashion. There will also be authentic Ukrainian haute cuisine from Oi léle!

Fashion city Düsseldorf - from the fashion icon Anna Maria Luisa de' Medici to the 20th century
Düsseldorf is known as a city of fashion. This reputation is not only due to the fashion fair or the boutiques on Königsallee. In fact, when Anna Maria Luisa de' Medici married Elector Jan Wellem at the end of the 17th century, she brought a wealth of art, baroque opulence and her sense of fashion from her home city of Florence to Düsseldorf. Numerous portraits provide information on how she repeatedly staged herself as a ruler with the help of clothing and accessories over the course of her life. On a tour of the museum, we look at the outfits of various Düsseldorfers over the centuries. We will look at portraits as well as original items of clothing that are part of the collection.

Time travel through fashion history - workshop for the whole family

From ruffs to opulent skirts, there is plenty to marvel at in the Stadtmuseum. On our exciting guided tour for children, we look at the special features of past fashions that can be seen in paintings in the collection. Then it's off to the studio: we create a collage from fabric, paper and other materials that refers to the relief at the entrance to the Rose Garden, which shows Anna Maria Luisa de' Medici and Jan Wellem - fashion icons of their time!
