Resistant or conformist - what role did the Bücherhallen play during the National Socialist era? What consequences did the actions of the Bücherhallen have for the people who worked in the Bücherhallen or used the services offered by the Bücherhallen? Hamburg historian Frauke Steinhäuser will begin the evening with a presentation of the results of her study. The subsequent discussion with Dr. Jaromir Dittmann-Balcar (Foundation of Hamburg Memorials and Places of Learning in Memory of the Victims of Nazi Crimes) and Prof. Dr. Kirsten Heinsohn (Deputy Director of the Research Centre for Contemporary History in Hamburg) will be moderated by Dr. Sabine Bamberger-Stemmann (Director of the State Agency for Political Education in Hamburg). The director of the Bücherhallen, Frauke Untiedt, will also be available to answer questions.
