The revenge of a bat can be cruel - and highly entertaining. At least when it comes in the form of the most popular operetta of all time! Notary Dr. Falke is this "bat", because his friend Gabriel von Eisenstein once played him badly in a bat disguise. Now he has devised a complicated plan to take revenge for this disgrace at the ball of the shady Prince Orlofsky - and he even enlists Eisenstein's wife Rosalinde, the chambermaid Adele and the prison warden Frank. Johann Strauss' worldwide success "Die Fledermaus" shows us the fragility of bourgeois facades and marital bliss in a melodious way, and still makes us laugh heartily about it.
