Die große Siegfried-Lenz-Hommage von Stefan Gwildis - So zärtlich war der Lenz!

After Theodor Storm and Wolfgang Borchert, Siegfried Lenz is the third great, unforgotten poet of the North to whom Stefan Gwildis has dedicated his own program.

The premiere of his new program falls exactly on the 10th anniversary of the death of Lenz, an honorary citizen of Hamburg.

Born in Lyck in East Prussia in 1926 and died in Hamburg in 2014, Lenz is one of the most important writers of post-war and contemporary German-language literature. His many novels, short stories, plays, essays and radio plays are the result of tireless productivity, imagination and the desire to bring the past to life. Lenz had his first great public success in 1955 with the Masurian stories "So zärtlich war Suleyken", and with "Deutschstunde" (1968) he achieved a milestone in 20th century German-language literature. To this day, the story of a policeman who monitors his friend's ban on painting under National Socialism is regarded as the epitome of a perverted, fatal sense of duty. In this homage, Stefan Gwildis reveals to his audience what fascinates him about "The German Lesson" and why "So Tender Was Suleyken" has a lot to do with his own family history.

In addition to his literary favorites, which include many quirky stories with lovable, reclusive people, there will of course also be music! Together with Tobias Neumann (piano) and Hagen Kuhr (cello), Stefan Gwildis presents his own compositions and sings songs from his repertoire.

As with Storm and Borchert, Stefan Gwildis is interested in a very personal approach to Lenz, with whom he shares more than just a love of the sea.

"So zärtlich war der Lenz!" is part of the Hamburg Reads Lenz initiative.
