Werther falls in love - first with nature, then with Lotte. Unfortunately, Lotte is already engaged to Albert. Werther tries to break away from her, but is unsuccessful. His love story has a fatal ending.

In Eike Hannemann's cult production, on the other hand, Werther from Erlangen cannot be killed off so quickly: for over ten years, he has been playing his way into the hearts of students and adults alike with a live camera, loop machine and passion.

Reclam or not - paper comes alive here and proves impressively that unhappy love still feels the same today as it did in Goethe's time.
