Family play at Christmas time based on Hans Christian Andersen by Annika Hartmann & Jens Paulsen

for all ages 6 and up

Siblings Gerda and Kay live with their grandmother in the cold Northland. When Kay is kidnapped one day by the powerful Snow Queen, Gerda sets off in search of her brother. She must prevent the Snow Queen's power from driving Kay to put the broken magic mirror back together. Otherwise the land is threatened with an eternal winter. Together with the reindeer Fridjof and the little bork troll Blonk, Gerda sets off on her adventure. Will they brave the dangers, reach the ice palace and stop the Snow Queen?

The fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen, lovingly adapted by Annika Hartmann and Jens Paulsen, is feel-good theater for the whole family. The Junge ^{Staatstheater+}, together with the team led by director Max Radestock, the acting ensemble, dancers from TANZ_Kassel and students from hmtmh, is looking forward to welcoming tens of thousands of children of all ages to the opera house in winter.

Max Radestock initially studied acting and was engaged at various theaters. From 2019 to 2023, he studied directing at the HfS für Schauspielkunst Ernst Busch in Berlin. Since 2022, he has worked as a director at the neues theater in Halle, the Uckermärkische Bühnen Schwedt and the Kinder- und Jugendtheater Strahl in Berlin, among others. He also works in audio and radio drama for Deutschlandfunk, WDR and rbb.
