Duodrama about forgiveness
with Irene Kleinschmidt and Franziska Mencz
Two women meet in an old Berlin apartment. Maja, a successful children's book author in her late 40s, rents the basement to nurse Anke, who is more than ten years her senior. At the time, Maja's own life is in crisis. Her relationship with her partner Lance is becoming estranged. As is her 15-year-old daughter, who lives separately from Maja with her father. Maja begins to trust her new tenant Anke and a friendship develops. But Anke has planned the encounter with Maja for a long time, and when Lance finally discovers Anke's secret, a battle begins for the two women at the end of which nothing is the same as before. This intimate drama focuses on the extent to which the guilt we are left with can determine our lives and the consequences that the actions of parents can have for their children and children's children.
The production "The Daughters" is the second collaboration between the actresses Irene Kleinschmidt and Franziska Mencz and the director and author Hans König. The project "Wölfinnen", which deals with the transgenerational transmission of trauma, was already realized together in winter 21/22.
