"If we still had the complete Sapphic poems, perhaps we would not be reminded of Homer anywhere", wrote Friedrich Schlegel about Sappho, the most important lyric poet of antiquity. Only fragments of Sappho's work have survived, the majority of her words have been lost or destroyed. In Elsa-Sophie Jach's production, the fragments of her song texts now serve as a unifying melody for six love letters to great ancient female figures: Echo, Medea, Cassandra, Medusa, Philomela and Penelope. They were all silenced by means of violence, ostracism, banishment or slander.

Authors such as Ovid and Euripides formulated interpretations for posterity that are primarily male-dominated. Interpretations that are still attached to these female figures today. Elsa-Sophie Jach now emancipates them from the versions of their stories that have become canonical. Supplemented by texts by authors who also take on the cursed, the players eloquently reflect on the fate of the unheard, of being condemned to silence. Together with the well-known Munich techno live band SLATEC, they conspire loudly, take action together and reclaim their voices.
