"Die Verdorbene" - FILMSCREENING UND DISKUSSION MIT FILMEMACHERIN NIAMH SAUTER-COOKE

The short film "Die Verdorbene" is a modern fairy tale about a neurotic kindergarten teacher who is afflicted by an unusually persistent fungal infection. Between ideals of female beauty and the desire to conquer her own biology, Alice must learn not to please people - to be disgusting: horrible and cruel and depraved. Niamh Sauter-Cooke is a German-Irish writer, director and producer. She is interested in power inequalities, strong feelings and the relationship between humans and nature. The film premiered at the Max Ophüls Preis Film Festival in Saarbrücken in January 2024 and screened at the SXSW Film and TV Festival in Texas in March 2024. After the screening, there will be a short lecture and an open discussion with Niamh Sauter-Cooke and the audience on the topic of "Empowerment and Horror"
