Although it is now common practice to press old Jamba ringtone successes onto records so that bearded Mainzers with COMPTON caps can write that the music itself has been reinvented, there are apparently still a few people who haven't noticed or don't want to notice today's zeitgeist.
In terms of sound, the new VERLIERER record is reminiscent of an almost forgotten type of failure: the work-refusing underground rock of the decaying GDR.
Most of the songs sound as if a couple of "Asoziale Elemente" had plugged their instruments directly into the in-house system of the "VEB Waggonkosmetik". Only the lyrics, performed over a standard RFT "Black Devil", bring you back to the miserable present. The first song, entitled "das Gift" (the poison), already speaks a clear language, as it deals with the abuse of the prescription drug PARKOPAN 5, which was used to treat Parkinson's disease in the GDR and whose quite desirable side effects included being able to see everything in two dimensions. "Allesfresser" takes up the anti-individualistic Frank Schöbel song "Es gibt nicht nur Dich" and in "Albtraum" even the good old blues gun is unlocked. There are also references to the nudist beaches between Hiddensee and Wolgast, as ballads such as "Stacheldraht" or "Verkeilt" are about getting completely naked. Unfortunately I can only go into a few songs because with a playing time of almost 45 (!) minutes you really get something for your aluminum chips here. Comes out mid-June on Mangel Records.
