To mark the 50th anniversary, we are showing the classic film

THE LOST HONOR OF KATHARINA BLUM.

Before the film, there will be a thematic introduction by Maria Birger and Markus Schäfer (speakers on Heinrich Böll - Life and Work). Afterwards, we will discuss the historical context and the topicality of the film with them.

"How violence arises and where it can lead"

Shortly after the publication of Heinrich Böll's story DIE VERLORENE EHRE DER KATHARINA BLUM, Volker Schlöndorff and Margarethe von Trotta worked on a screenplay. After consultation with Böll and several revisions to the script, filming began just one year after publication. The great response to the book publication and the film adaptation is proof that Böll had taken up a topic that "struck a chord with the times".
