The title of the dialog exhibition "The rediscovered gardens" was originally the garden of the Kunstvilla, which was once surrounded by a park as the villa of the wealthy Jewish hop merchant and banking family Hopf.
The garden can no longer be reconstructed due to a lack of archival documents and post-war development. It is a lost garden.
Verena Waffek (*1953 Ehingen) and Hubertus Hess (*1953 Coburg) have created a "Jardin artificiel", an artificial and artistic garden, in this empty space. Hubertus Hess creates associative assemblages against the adversity of the present. Verena Waffek conceives a
planning studio for mosses, lichens and cacti. The memory of lost things is combined with visions of what gardens could look like in the future.
