Join us on a journey to the most beautiful places in the universe - and the strangest. The journey begins with a view of the earthly starry sky, which has actually been familiar to people since the beginning of time, but is now mostly obscured by artificial light. We rise above the man-made bells of light and set off for our cosmic home, the Milky Way. We find hundreds of billions of stars there, some as old as the sun, some still in the process of being born, embedded in colorful nebulae. And still others have reached the end of their lives and are passing away no less colorfully. Many stars also have planetary systems, sometimes similar to ours, sometimes completely different.
Experience the beauty and fascination of the Milky Way in colors that our eyes can't even see - and discover the cosmos in ways that only the most modern research has opened up: through showers of mysterious particles and even vibrations of space-time itself, the gravitational waves.

The true size of the universe is only revealed beyond the boundaries of our Milky Way, which is just one of billions of galaxies: we visit our nearest neighbors as well as truly exotic objects at great distances and survey the cosmos right up to its visible limits. State-of-the-art imaging techniques bring the unimaginable to life: We live in an age in which the grandiose tools of astronomy have opened up the cosmos to us in all its diversity and depth. It is worth visiting its most exciting corners!
