Comedy based on Carlo Goldoni by John von Düffel

In John von Düffel's adaptation of Carlo Goldoni's comedy "Servant of Two Masters", the famous comedy of mistaken identity is relocated from the Italian province of Bergamo to the tranquil town of Pforzheim in the 1970s. The eternally hungry servant Truffaldino thinks to himself: "If there's no work at home, you have to seek your fortune abroad. And where else but in up-and-coming Baden-Württemberg in 1973 could there be more lucrative jobs and tastier food? A job is needed, because the stomach is empty. But why not two jobs at once? But Truffaldino soon finds himself in a dilemma: serving two masters at the same time creates a very confusing situation and numerous mix-ups - a bit too much for the chaotic, Italian provincial servant. The masterpiece of commedia dell'arte can be experienced in a delightful rewrite, set on the edge of the beautiful Black Forest, somewhere between disgusting Alfred, clunkiness and typical German hospitality.

NEUE GLOBE THEATER, founded in 2015 by Andreas Erfurth, Sebastian Bischoff and Kai Frederic Schrickel, is an independent actor-led theater company from Potsdam that emerged from the ensemble of "Shakespeare und Partner" in Berlin. With "Servant of Two Masters", the NEUE GLOBE THEATER draws on an original German adaptation by the well-known author and dramaturge John von Düffel. Theater at its finest as well as a firework of wordplay and the cheekiest constellations of the Commedia dell'Arte.
