In 1958, Werner Heisenberg presented the world formula - the physicist believed that he had developed a "unified theory of elementary particles". Between 1979 and 1992, Douglas Adams wrote the novel series 'The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy', in which the number '42' is given by a supercomputer after several million years of calculation as the answer to the question "about life, the universe and all the rest".

Fragile social systems characterize the present. The question of the meaning or nonsense of life remains unanswered.

The conceptual artist Peter Kees provides a commentary on this in 42 improvised organ performances on 42 church organs in 42 churches. The 42 performances result in a 42-movement work, the Revolution-Requiem cycle: atmospheres, rhythms and timbres reflect current events. The performances are not concerts in the classical sense, but rather reflections commenting on the present - art is meta-language beyond all language barriers.

The performance runs as part of the exhibition Doppelpass VII: Himmelsstürmer - Frenzy Höhne and Peter Kees from January 31 to March 27, 2025 at DG Kunstraum Diskurs Gegenwart at Finkenstraße 4.
