DOTA

The musical collaboration between Berlin singer-songwriter Dota Kehr, drummer Janis Görlich and guitarist Jan Rohrbach began in the early 2000s, initially under the pseudonym "Die Kleingeldprinzessin" and since 2013 under the name DOTA. The band plays tours at home and abroad and has released 16 albums. They collaborate with Brazilian musicians such as Chico Cesár and Danilo Guilherme and have received awards such as the German Record Critics' Award and the Fred Jay Award. Patrick Reising (Tele, Crucchi Gang) and Alex Binder (Max Prosa, Judith Holofernes, Crucchi Gang) join the band. Their first album together is "Wir rufen dich, Galaktika", with which they enter the top ten of the German album charts for the first time in 2021. A year earlier, DOTA released the album "Kaléko" with settings of texts by the poet of the same name, which was initially intended as a one-off project but then became so successful that a second Kaléko album, "In der fernsten der Fernen", was released in 2023. Both works feature an illustrious group of duet partners: Black Sea Dahu, Alin Coen, Sarah Lesch, Nicola Rost (Laing), Anna Mateur, Dirk von Lowtzow (Tocotronic), Clueso, Gisbert zu Knyphausen, Funny van Dannen, Rainald Grebe, Hannes Wader, Konstantin Wecker and others. Politically engaged, Dota is not content with having the "right" opinion and delivering slogans for those who are already like-minded. Instead, she confronts her own helplessness. No answers, but songs in which you can indulge in utopia, at least for the duration of a chorus. In doing so, she always exposes her own point of view, takes the piss out of it analytically and doesn't take herself too seriously. Now DOTA allow themselves a little journey through time. They have created "One song from every album" as a concert program with songs from several years of the band's history to mark their milestone birthday. But there will also be new and previously unreleased songs.
