Ein Ort. Irgendwo

In the organizer's words:

Never before have so many people worldwide been on the run or migrated from their homeland for other reasons. Behind each of these people is a moving story.

With the international caricature competition Ein Ort. Somewhere, the EXILE cultural coordination had called on international artists to submit their experiences, impressions and perspectives on the subject of flight and migration in artistic form.

The exhibition shows a selection of the submitted works and is thus a mouthpiece for voices from all over the world. The artistically impressive caricatures illustrate the broad spectrum of the topics of flight and migration, the difficulties, hurdles and pain of leaving home and family, as well as the hope for a better future and support and acceptance. But they also address the criticism of structural conditions and obstacles and the perception of different, sometimes frightening social reactions.

This exhibition provides food for thought and drives the discourse on the topic of flight and migration. The answer to one question is still outstanding: How do we combat the causes of flight and at the same time improve the conditions for those fleeing?

The exhibition, the supporting programme and the guided tours are organized in cooperation with Engagement Global as part of the "Development-Related Education in Germany" (EBD) programme. With these free events, Engagement Global aims to motivate people to take a critical look at global developments and encourage them to get involved in sustainable development.
