"Eindrucksvoll winzig: Gemmen im Akademischen Kunstmuseum Bonn als Siegel, Schmuckstücke und Amulette"

In the organizer's words:

Only since the Academic Art Museum acquired a highly significant collection in terms of quality and scope in 2021 with the gems of Prof. Dr. Klaus Jürgen Müller has it been possible to study this genre of monuments in greater depth at the University of Bonn using originals. On the occasion of the permanent transfer of the collection by the Bonn University Foundation, this special exhibition is dedicated to the art of stone carving from the Bronze Age to the 3rd century AD and also offers a look at the classical afterlife. 80 gems, mainly from the Müller Collection, are on display in a dozen thematic areas, as well as several collections of gem casts (so-called dactyliotheques) from old museum holdings and samples of raw gem material from the Mineralogical Museum of the University of Bonn.

The special exhibition will be presented in many of our Sunday tours until the end of April. You can find our calendar of events here.

The following events can also be booked for groups (tour fee for adult groups 40 euros, for school classes 30 euros):
