Joyce Carol Oates portrayed the iconic Marilyn Monroe in her novel Blond like no other author. With Miss Golden Dreams , Oates has written the theater version of the novel. The play explores the inner life of Norma Jean Baker, the young woman who develops into the sex bomb known as Marilyn Monroe. In spotlights and small mini-dramas, Joyce Carol Oates tells of the beginning of her career as a model, her relationship with baseball player Joe di Maggio, her passionate and tragic relationship with writer Arthur Miller, Marilyn's stage fright and rehearsals with director Lee Strasberg and her affair with John F. Kennedy. But neither her love for men nor her profession could heal her inner turmoil.

Joyce Carol Oates tells the story of the greatest Hollywood legend of the 20th century, of her pain, her radiance, her dreams and her tragic end, with sensitivity and powerful language. Director Anna Bergmann stages Oates' play with an all-female cast.
