Electric Lights * Women in Electronic Music * Vol 3 * Lena Willikens & Katja Ruge

In the organizer's words:

Electric Lights * Women in Electronic Music * Vol 3 * Lena Willikens & Katja Ruge

The fascination for space is connected with the great questions of our existence: about origins, origins and the future. Amazement about the incomprehensible, infinity - space.
Electronic music is about all of this. No musical genre represents the universe so perfectly, points beyond conventional structures and forms and searches for utopias, both musically and on a socio-cultural level: electronic music stands for an attitude to life of freedom and community, it knows neither exclusion nor demarcation and pulsates without gender divisions.

Electric Lights is about the energy and power of women in electronic music: their passion, their experiences and their unique artistic perspectives. Electric Lights is an international photo project by Katja Ruge in collaboration with Kaput - Magazin für Insolvenz & Pop, where the interviews and images are published online. (Amelie Lens, Paula Temple, Ciel, Nene H, Terr, Afrodeutsche, Phew, Paula Tape, Suzanne Ciani, Helena Hauff and many more) https://katjaruge.de/electriclights

In an extraordinary DJ set series, some of the artists portrayed will perform alongside photographer and DJ Katja Ruge in the dome of the Hamburg Planetarium. The special crossover between space exploration, electronic music and photography - all based on the intensive use of technology and complex machines - and the multi-layered, shared levels of meaning make the Planetarium - the place for space in Hamburg - with its reclining chairs the perfect venue for Electric Lights.

The initiator and host is the Hamburg photographer Katja Ruge, who has been known in the international electronic music scene for years as a portrait photographer and is a creative DJ & music producer (with the duo Can Love Be Synth), organizer and curator.

The DJ set series Electric Lights started successfully in 2023 at the Planetarium Hamburg. There, Katja Ruge has already welcomed the top-class Helena Hauff and newcomer DJ MELL G in front of a sold-out house. It continues with Lena Willikens, another exceptional DJ with her very own sound Cosmos.
