Of course, every year we invite you to dance in our little Auenwald clearing for the Electric Weekender. Try to escape the everyday madness for a handful of enraptured hours. To make plans. To make friends. If not for the body, then at least to give the mind a little break. But we also want to fulfill dreams, take risks, unearth the unheard or the long forgotten. Take our ears to the brink of madness. Listen to techno and think about it - what the fuck.

Moritz von Oswald (DJ)

Moritz von Oswald from E2 to E4: Checkmate. Too much experience to produce a coherent text here. Orchestra musician, drummer for Andreas Dorau and Palais Schaumburg. Domina's roommate. Hardwax. Detroit-Berlin. Tresor. Maurizio. Basic Channel, Main Street Records, Chain Reaction. Rhythm and Sound. Deutsche Grammophon. A sound pioneer, always on the lookout, indispensable in his work. Even after decades in the business, he still knows how to move and inspire. His musical work shows the traces of the past in the present and yet points far into the future. After all this oracle, we are as curious as a whip, let's just listen.

Francesco Devincenti (LIVE)

Francesco's life revolves around music. He sells synths to the nerds at Schneiders Laden. He mastered and cut your favorite EP at Analogcut, and maybe he'll release your next favorite EP on his label Gasolio Dubplate Series. He weaves the most intricate web of patch cables into the most visceral wall of sound. Harmonies touching your soul, peaks of infrasonic vibrations pushing your body, valleys of gentle textures giving you room to breathe. We couldn't think of anyone more fitting to match up with Moritz von Oswald for our night of sonic research on friday.

50PHIE (DJ)

There is probably no escape. Not even in exile in Hamburg. Nothing comes close to this familiar feeling... But looking at the line-up of this year's weekender, 50PHIE might get off lightly. Angelic dub chords all night long. Who the fuck is Basic Channel? Just ask Moritz, he's playing the warm-up. Meeting point Cafe. Intimate, hot, madhouse.

Shinedoe (DJ)

Shinedoe plays techno. Yet, she puts so much soul into it, that even the machine-made rhythms seem to become a living being, dancing through the room and with the audience.
Over the course of two decades, Shinedoe has carved a path into the world of house and techno that is entirely her own. Shinedoe relentless passion for the finer elements of electronic dance music has seen her win over hearts and minds in every aspect she has turned her attention to - from her transformative DJ performances, authoritative productions, and exquisitely curated label - Intacto and MTM Records. Like only a handful others in the scene, her name signifies a strength of purpose and commitment to quality that is rare in the world of dance music. Based in Amsterdam and with Nigerian roots, Shinedoe has graced some of the world's most significant DJ booths - from her countless performances in Berlin's Berghain to underground festivals and clubs all over the world. Beginning her journey as a DJ at 19 years old, Shinedoe has drawn inspiration from originators like Jeff Mills, Derrick May, Juan Atkins, Carl Craig, Kevin Saunderson and Orlando Voorn. With her deep connection to the sounds of Detroit, Chicago and the often unsung Amsterdam scene, her DJ sets blend these influences with a warmth and style that few can hope to emulate - her mixes take dancers on an explorative trip to the beyond. Shinedoe radiates a positivity that at times can seem in short supply elsewhere in electronic dance music. Dive into her extensive back catalogue of productions and it's clear she has established a sound that is recognizably her own - both timeless and unique. Her releases stretch back over a decade to when her debut track Dillema dropped on Dutch label 100% Pure in 2004. It was clear nothing was going to hold her back - the track was picked up by everyone from the techno elite to the bedroom DJs and ravers who couldn't get enough of its tough, funky and infectious groove. A series of killer 12s would follow, both on her former Intacto imprint and labels such as Rekids, Ibadan Records, Cocoon, Bpitch Control, Axis Records (album)- to name but a few. Key moments included the Fuse Presents Shinedoe mix that dropped in 2007 on Music Man, which added extra heat to her already hot reputation.

Monty Luke (DJ)

Always seeking, always learning, Monty Luke is a musical explorer with a future-forward aesthetic, focused on raw, dub-infused house and techno. His career has seen him take on an eclectic collection of roles which is reflected in his wide ranging discography, remixes and energetic DJ sets. With a stylistic focus on themes relating to futurism, science fiction and dystopia, he also frequently uses his voice as an instrument, to either directly convey emotions through lyrics or indirectly convey ideas by turning those vocals into unrecognizable components within a song's arrangement.
He is currently based in Berlin, but immediately prior, Monty spent 10 pivotal years in Detroit, a part of "Detroit 3.0," a movement that saw the city regain its relevance after years of recession. This resurgence included the world of electronic music and also the arts, as Monty also spent two years as Public Programs Curator at the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit(MOCAD). It was an unexpected twist to his time in the midwest city and another manner in which he contributed to pushing the region a step forward during the wave-swell of a cultural and economic comeback.
In 2011, Monty launched his own imprint, Black Catalogue, which now stands at nearly thirty-five releases in its discography, including music from artists such as the Carter Bros, King Britt, Stefan Ringer, John Tejada, Thomas Melchior, Dave Aju and many other kings and queens of the underground. Black Catalogue is also a stage for Monty's own productions, in particular his Mandingo alias which is focused on the fusion of his Caribbean roots and new forms in House and Techno.
With a passion for futurist ideals, Monty's eyes are always locked ahead-his persistent state of forward-thinking leading him to the discovery of the Mars One Project, which aimed to establish permanent human settlement on Mars. He made the first cut in 2014 and was one of some 600 contestants left in the running before finally being eliminated in early 2015. Monty's devout interest in the connection between outer space, music, technology, media and futurism and fuses together the overall product: an audio astronaut who pushes his intergalactic sound. He is adjusting the frequency, staying in tune with an ever-evolving musical landscape.

Lydia Eisenblätter (DJ)

When we were still at school or hiding in the basement to minimalist techno, our lungs full of fog fluid, Lydia already had her head above the clouds. Eyes and ears fixed on the metropolis of the Great Lakes on the other side of the Atlantic. Soul in her soul, funk in her fingers, a dream of great melodies and dancing in ecstasy in her heart. Fast forward, she runs a successful label, recently played at the Panaroma Bar, and at the Weekender the closing on Saturday in the hall. Preach it Lydi!

Sam (DJ)

Just fits. Sam gets the Weekender double. At the last two years' party she was still on the flyer as "Whatever Floats Your Boat", but this year the captain is entering the harbor of hedonism under her own name. A lot has happened in the meantime. She effortlessly navigates her two-master through the rough (careful, metaphor!) waters of the DJ and club savannah. Doldrums? Not a chance. The wind in her sails is no coincidence, so there's no need for any bellyaching with meaningful adjectives at this point.

n:oem (DJ)

It all started in the Conne Island rehearsal room. Baptism of fire halftime, then it went fast: criss-crossing the Central Saxon club landscape and, of course, out into the ether. First heard on Corax and Callshop, they now curate the great radio show Something Sweet, Something Salty on Sphere Radio. Our prediction: it's going to go off like Schmitt's cat - but first a stopover on the veranda at the Electric Weekender. With eclectic sounds for electric souls, they will gently guide you into the night.

R!ke B2B Marov (DJ)

R!ke speaks to all our senses. She tickled our taste buds with self-made ice cream in the Electric Beer garden. She blew us away with a flawless selection of deep-house Electric Wave. She heads our visual production team for Electric Weekender, making sure the night will be bright.
Marov fits tracks together like a bespoke tailor a suit. With flawless pacing, his selections grips you firm yet gently, making you move in ecstasy or nod your head in contemplation.
That's why we are looking more than forward to hearing R!ke and him for a full 4 hours, just after the sun comes up - just the right combination to soothe your mind after a long rave or ease you into the Sunday madness after a good night's sleep. Have your Shazam ready and expect the unexpected. From lullabies to singalongs, from groovers to belters, they got your musical breakfast covered.

Low Velocity Sound System (DJ)

Leisureliness is a virtue. Not to be confused with idleness (which definitely also needs to be learned, but in this case would be wrong). Pro tip: dress to sweat, because it gets warm on the veranda, although the weather only plays a small part here. The early morning hours belong entirely to the princes of snugness. Who said Muschebubu? It was Low Velocity Soundsystem. However, communication is completely wordless, only in frequencies. Let yourselves be lulled to sleep.

Mauro Caracho (DJ)

The curtain falls this year with Leipzig's probably busiest DJ (Mauro Caracho), booker (Distillery), promoter (Fäncy), tap rental (always there when you need him) and all-around ace-in-the-hole for everything that needs to be celebrated. At home on the dancefloor from Panama to Pannebar, he is never at a loss for a hit or another one ... and another one. For smiling, for cuddling, for singing along, for shouting. Gamal is a rock in the surf, always keeping his feet on the ground while the audience takes off. Until the speakers give up the ghost, the fog machine runs out of breath but the beer never runs out - it's closing time!

Dolomea (LIVE)

Hearing Dolomea's latest live recording from Hopetosse was like getting straight in a Delorean, popping a couple yellow UPS into the flux compensator and landing in a not so distant past. A past when every party was a weekender, when you couldn't see the white in Ricardo Villalobos Eyes. When funky beats were coming from little repurposed drummers-in-box and haunting vocal samples were fired from oversized instruments with the computing power of a pocket calculator. When cables and drinks spilled everywhere and touchscreens weren't a thing. Every track had its own groove, music had soul, and our souls felt the funk. Were so much looking forward to the live set by audio engineer mastering wizard and machine conductor Dolomea!

DJ Hefeweizen (DJ)

You like some cheese? Sellerhausen's most renowned wheat beer connoisseur has something for you (at least to a healthy extent): If you say Defected, you have to say Tucker. Anyone who says King Street must also say Chandler. And who says DJ Hefeweizen? You can be sure of an ecstatic excursion through the various nuances of deep, garage and gospel house. So better don't miss out when a touch of New York, Chicago with soul and good vibes come to the Island.

Håstad (DJ)

The main thing is timeless. Whether listening or dancing. Hastad concentrates on the essentials: Warm chords, dry beats, sounds from the past that make us think of the future. Captured on vinyl, converted into sound. Science fiction for the ears.

Heckintosh b2b Werner Benzo (DJ)

Wuller vous danser avec nous?! Heckintosh and Werner Benzo were both residents in Trier's beloved villaWuller. Both driven by Mixery and bass in endless club nights, still missing the old Schießgraben. They were and still are jealous lovers of house, first row piano dancers and gate keepers of the swinging monkey. Never played back to back. Now reunited and back together on the one and twos. Tschyeah!

sophiise (DJ)

Anyone who learns to walk on the nation, so to speak, can hardly escape the charms of the electronic music milieu as they get older. It's all about the mood. And with sophiise, it's sometimes garage(ig), sometimes bassy, sometimes housey, but predominantly broken. Fortunately, this shouldn't be an obstacle for even the weakest dancing leg acrobats, because: it's also all about the groove. And that, as we all know, cannot be measured by kick drums per bar.
