GDR 1972, feature film, 82 min
Director: Herrmann Zschoche
with: Cox Habbema, Iwan Andonow, Rolf Hoppe
Language: OV (German)
Sometime in the indefinite future, several spaceships disappear without a trace. The connection to the orbital station "Margot" also breaks down. The head of the "Earth Center" station, Maria Scholl, calls a crisis team and wants to ban further space flights. Is everything connected to the signals from the planet "Eolomea", on which eternal spring seems to reign?
The design of this DEFA film looks wonderfully retro-futuristic to today's eyes. The spaceship sets and costume design can clearly be located in the 1970s, when the film was made, rather than in the distant future. Perhaps that's why they are so interesting to look at (the robot alone!). What is still relevant today is the constant emphasis on the beauty and peculiarity of nature on our "little ball with six continents" in some of the grandiosely kitschy scenes.

The design of this DEFA film seems wonderfully retro-futuristic to today's eyes. Spaceships and costumes can clearly be located in the 1970s, rather than in the future. Perhaps that is precisely why they are interesting to watch (the robot alone!). What is still relevant today is the constant emphasis on the beauty and uniqueness of nature on our very own "little ball with the six continents". (Original German version without subtitles)
