DANCE WORLDS

September 27, 2024 until February 16, 2025

Bundeskunsthalle Bonn

The need and desire to dance are deeply rooted in us humans. Dancing has always inspired human interaction and was already part of rituals, ceremonies, festivals and entertainment in early cultures. To this day, dancing is part of social and cultural life all over the world and reflects the spirit of the times.

The exhibition presents dance as a global form of representation and expression and tells the intertwined stories between dance in its social functions and its role as art. With exhibits ranging from ancient artifacts with dance depictions to examples from the visual arts and contemporary installations and projections, it looks at the multitude of different forms and styles.

IT ALSO OFFERS YOU COUNTLESS OPPORTUNITIES TO EXPERIENCE AND PARTICIPATE IN DANCE: live performances, dance workshops and dance evenings for all. In addition, the center of the exhibition will become a dance hall: ensembles and artists in residence will rehearse and dance here and offer insights into choreographic processes.

To kick off the exhibition, the Bundeskunsthalle invites you to the big OPEN-AIR-DANCE-PARTY on Saturday, September 28 from 6 pm on the Museumsplatz: Animated by dancers and DJs, visitors can dance along to the BAL DU TOUT-MONDE. Dance groups also have the opportunity to use the dance floor in the exhibition for their own performance! Let's dance!

Performances and workshops in the exhibition are included in the admission price.
