Essenziale 2024

Every year, Dintje Dance invites players from the independent regional dance scene together with dance artists from Italy. The aim of the event series is to promote an inspiring exchange on a European level, to disseminate young, innovative content and to facilitate an artistic encounter for like-minded people - with the clear challenge of creating something together for the Essen audience.

With this format, Artistic Director Eloisa Mirabassi wants to create an inspiring space for young artists across genres and offer them the opportunity to present their latest creations. The selected pieces tell of life and have a high social value. They carry our vision of changing the world through art - or at least a small piece of it.

News this year: Essenziale 2024 will take place as part of the first Essen Dance Week. From October 7 to 13, 2024, the Essen Cultural Office and the local dance scene invite you to the Essen Dance Week. The program includes performances, networking opportunities, an urban dance battle, dance films, a ballet premiere and free dance classes throughout the city - from ballet to urban dance - and offers a variety of insights into the world of dance. A central highlight of the week is the presentation of the German Dance Award on October 12 at the Aalto Theater, an event that will put Essen in the spotlight as an important dance city, even beyond the region.
