Student Sosuke is still suffering from the loss of his family in a tragic accident. When he takes on a part-time job at an art exhibition, he meets the ink painter Shinoda Kozan, who invites him to become his student. With empathy, the master introduces the young man to the art of ink painting(suibokuga). Through this encounter, Sosuke gains a new zest for life and slowly begins to come to terms with his grief. He soon discovers a new passion in art.
On February 14 at the EKŌ-Haus with an artist's look behind the scenes and Q&A with sumi-e master Malgorzata Tohkou Olejniczak. She is a master student of KOBAYASHI Toh'un, who accompanied the filming of THE LINES THAT DEFINE ME as an artistic consultant and taught the lead actor ink painting, among other things. A large part of the performances and works shown in the film can be traced back to KOBAYASHI. Ms. Olejniczak will give a look behind the scenes of the filming and the associated memories of the master.

Ticket collection (max. 2 tickets per person) in the Black Box cinema in the Filmmuseum Düsseldorf is possible from 11:00 a.m. on the day of the event at the box office of the Filmmuseum (no pre-registration).
