A musician of extraordinary nuance, pianist Eyolf Dale's uniquely expressive improvisational voice is increasingly prominent on the European scene. Following the success of his first trio album Being (2021) as well as exceptional solo piano work, The Wayfarers is his latest album with longtime collaborators Per Zanussi and Audun Kleive.
The trio has gone from strength to strength since the release of their debut album "Being" (Edition Records, 2021), playing together more than ever before. The result is that "The Wayfarers" is a much more collaborative process, with Per Zanussi and Audun Kleive involved in the writing much earlier on. While "Being" was an extremely personal album, "The Wayfarers" is about deep trust and collaboration, as Eyolf explains: "The one thing I really come back to every time is the empathy and the connection between people." There is this special connection. It's a question of trust. They trust me to make music for them. And I trust them to be respectful and irreverent with it."
Eyolf's music is a meeting of Nordic folk, classical and jazz influences and is deeply lyrical and soulful. This is a beautiful album from one of Europe's finest piano trios.
