Immerse yourself in the world of analog photography: in this workshop, we will build a portable camera obscura out of a cookie tin - a minimalist camera that only requires a tin and photographic paper. And that's supposed to work? The artist Thomas Bachler will show how to take impressive photos with this self-made pinhole camera.
The special exhibition Retrospective! A photographic history of Benrath Palace from 1870 to the present day is the first exhibition on the photographic history of Benrath Palace and Park and traces the photographic events of the last 150 years. It presents the many different areas in which photography has been used: from monument preservation to tourism, everyday family photography, political and public events to journalism, advertising and art. Many of the photographs on display were taken by renowned photographers, but the exhibition also includes numerous private photographs from the past 100 years. Over one hundred people and families responded to an appeal and provided almost 300 snapshots.
