Our outer neighboring planet Mars has fascinated people for thousands of years. The two planets come relatively close to each other, especially at times when the Earth overtakes Mars, and Mars sometimes becomes spectacularly bright. Together with its reddish color, this has always attracted people's attention. After the invention of the telescope, the planet Mars was observed intensively. It was even believed that artificial water-filled channels of intelligent Martian life had been discovered.

In the meantime, numerous space probes have explored the planet Mars and made breathtaking discoveries. There are no Martians, but there are interesting landscapes to explore: Huge volcanoes, turbulent dust storms in cold deserts, mysterious dried-up river valleys and much more. The question of life on Mars has also preoccupied many inquiring minds.
