It is an unusual form of neighborly relationship. In a forest on the outskirts of Barcelona, an old shepherd and his flock live next to a high-tech laboratory for animal testing. "It's as if we were living in prehistoric times while they are in outer space," says the old shepherd. Two opposing worlds facing each other. Two worlds that are two sides of the same coin. While the shepherd, suffering from a bone disease, watches his profession disappear, the scientists are busy researching vaccines.

In precise shots and with the help of humorous montages, FAUNA interweaves the worlds of humans, animals and science.

The film celebrates its German premiere at Stranger Than Fiction.
