Probably the most fast-paced and exciting action film of the 80s: a cop heats up gangsters and turns a skyscraper into a ruin in the process.

New York policeman John McClane travels to California for Christmas to reconcile with his wife, who has made a career with a Japanese corporation. When he arrives at the huge office building and is just freshening up in the washroom, thirty heavily armed gangsters, who are after the company's securities, storm the building and seal it off hermetically. McClane manages to escape and fights the gang on the deserted floors, where he also manages to call the police. Using armored personnel carriers and helicopters, the officers then wreak terrible havoc and blow up half the building. McClane manages to take down the gangster leader and free his wife and the hostages.
