Come to FILMFEST HAMBURG and experience Ukrainian filmmaking

Based on true events, this poetic drama tells of the struggle for dignity, human rights and freedom. Soviet Union, 1980: The human rights activist and political prisoner Mustafa Jemilev is exiled to Siberia. His fate moves people all over the country - for different reasons: While the kind-hearted teacher Safinar wants to finally meet the living legend of her people in person, public prosecutor Shalandin travels to Siberia to eliminate the activist.

IVAN TYMCHENKO (*1979 in the Ukraine). Her debut film Beshoot (2019) screened at numerous international festivals.

FILMFEST HAMBURG takes place from September 26 to October 5, 2024. Over 120 productions from all over the world will be shown as world, European, German or Hamburg premieres.
