Come to FILMFEST HAMBURG and follow the David-versus-Goliath battle of a Portuguese village

DOCUMENTARY FILM How does the revolution succeed? With echoes of the Western, the film tells a cinematic ballad of resistance. The small community of Covas do Barroso in northern Portugal learns one day that the British company Savannah Resources is planning to build the largest open-cast lithium mine in Europe just a few meters from their homes. Faced with this imminent threat, the citizens decide to organize and drive the company off their land. It is a battle of David against Goliath, but their hope of saving their home is unbroken.

PAULO CARNEIRO (*1990 in Portugal) graduated in Sound and Image at ESAD.CR and completed a Master's degree at the National Film School (ESTC) in Lisbon and at HEAD in Geneva. His first feature-length documentary Bostofrio (2018) was screened at more than 40 film festivals.

FILMFEST HAMBURG will take place from September 26 to October 5, 2024. Over 120 productions from all over the world will be shown as world, European, German or Hamburg premieres.
