Come to FILMFEST HAMBURG and travel back to the year 1862

"The past is never dead. It's not even past": this chillingly laconic war film subverts genre clichés and makes disturbing references to the present. In 1862, in the midst of the turmoil of the American Civil War, a company of Union soldiers patrols the barren borderlands of the western territories. They are men and boys with disheveled beards and gnawing hunger. Loving God and their country, they believe they are in the service of both in this desolate outpost far from civilization. But as winter sets in and supplies run out, the soldiers begin to question their beliefs in the fog of war.

ROBERTO MINERVINI (*1970 in Italy) is a filmmaker, music producer and photographer who has lived in New York for many years and has attracted attention with documentaries such as What You Gonna Do When The World's On Fire (2018). The Damned, his feature film debut, celebrated its premiere in Cannes in the Un Certain Regard series.

FILMFEST HAMBURG takes place from September 26 to October 5, 2024. Over 120 productions from all over the world will be shown as world, European, German or Hamburg premieres.
