Despite coming of age, Heinz still lives in his parents' terraced house at what feels like the end of the world. Any prospects in his work or love life? Not a chance. But Heinz can do one thing: play the saxophone. So he joins the Tiffanys, a sleazy dance band that tours the villages under the direction of bandleader Gurki. From then on, Heinz plays at beer-soaked village festivals and shooting parties in his glittering jacket. His eating habits became more radical (meat with meat) and the same old hits from the 70s and 80s became his constant companions.
With "Fleisch ist mein Gemüse", writer and musician Heinz Strunk has created a hilarious tale of rural youth. He captures the bizarre and the abysmal, the hopes and longings of the Federal Republic of Germany through the eerily beautiful repertoire of the Tiffanys. Last but not least, "Fleisch ist mein Gemüse" is a declaration of love to the German Schlager.
Look forward to a production by the Landestheater Tübingen with live music.
