In his new work, in-house choreographer Samir Akika transforms the stage into a catwalk of desires and vanities. A red carpet becomes a playing field for eight dancers, who together take a look at the self-image of artistic work. Is art a commodity and how is its value determined? "Fools At Work" entangles performers and audience in a game between desire and consumption. Equally inspired by conceptual art and fashion shows, Akika and the dancers of Unusual Symptoms break through the hierarchies of high and subculture and mix performative experiments, artistic activism and the escapist pleasures of late capitalism into a danced happening about the value of art.
