After a turbulent year with many wonderful exhibitions (including Representation - a female Street Art Exhibition, я кость, Anna-Sophie Kamps and the Franzmannstickerfest), we are now looking forward to presenting works by the following Ukrainian artist, who is currently living in Düsseldorf, in our premises from December 1: Kseniia Dubina immortalizes imaginary lighthouses in her paintings. She reduces what she sees to the most important structural elements of a lighthouse and is guided by her personal emotions in her choice of colors. She does not want to depict external reality, but rather what this reality triggers in her on an emotional level.
Lighthouses in the narrower sense serve to permanently mark a location and, in order to be identifiable, emit an individual light signal that consists of a rhythmic sequence of flashes of light when viewed from a distant point. This is realized, for example, by several converging lenses that rotate as a ring around a very small light source.
Lighthouses are fascinating structures that have adorned coastlines around the world for centuries. They shine in the dark and show ships the way. Lighthouses are also symbols of hope, orientation and adventure.
There is something special about the world's lighthouses. When their lights can be seen in countless windows at regular intervals in the evening, it gives countless inhabitants of this planet the certainty that these lights can also be seen for miles out at sea and provide orientation and comfort in darkness and fog ...
We can therefore hardly wait to show these special works by the young Ukrainian artist in a solo exhibition.
On December 1, we are once again inviting you to an exalted vernissage in the small gallery of the Franzmann youth culture café. DJ Aura will be responsible for the musical program
The exhibition can be seen until January 11th during regular opening hours (Monday to Wednesday from 3pm to 9pm; Thursday and Friday from 3pm to 10pm)
