Düsseldorf artist Bärbel Möllmann gives a guided tour of the camera obscura she has set up and explains how her camera obscura in the Museum of Garden Art works. The guided tour is part of the special exhibition "Retrospective! A photographic history of Benrath Palace from 1870 to the present day". It is the first exhibition on the photographic history of Benrath Palace and Park and traces the photographic events of the last 150 years. It presents the many different areas in which photography has been used: from monument preservation to tourism, everyday family photography, political and public events to journalism, advertising and art. Many of the photographs on display were taken by renowned photographers, but the exhibition also includes numerous private photographs from the past 100 years. Over one hundred people and families responded to an appeal and provided almost 300 snapshots.
The special exhibition will be shown throughout the east wing and in the Corps de Logis. An extensive educational and outreach program for children, young people, families, school classes and adults accompanies the exhibition. A richly illustrated accompanying volume will also be published.
Duration of the tour: approx. 60 minutes
